London Chamber of Commerce and Industry organized a Seminar on Positive Prospects of Trade in Serbia which took place in London on 20th October 2011.

Aleksandar Preradovic and Ines Matijevic-Papulin, Consultants at Harrisons Solicitors, were speakers at the conference on Legal Considerations for UK Exporters to Serbia.

Last night in Aeroklub, Serbian-British Business Club, gathered for the third time representatives of the most prominent Serbian and British companies who were welcomed by Michael Davenport, Her Majesty's Ambassador to Serbia. At the event, the Club, with its goal of promoting business links between Serbia and the United Kingdom, used the opportunity to present to its guests the Serbian Business Angels Network.

IFC, a member of the World Bank Group, is providing a €50 million loan to UniCredit Bank Serbia, allowing the bank to increase access to finance for agribusiness, especially small and medium enterprises, and to support mortgage lending to low-income clients.

The global economic crisis hit Serbia and other southern European countries hard, straining banks and weakening economic development. The new loan is part of IFC's strategy to strengthen the region's banking sector and support economic recovery by boosting lending to agribusiness.

BondsOn 28  September 2011, the Republic of Serbia successfully completed an International Bond Issue totalling EUR 1 Billion. Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic described it as "a historic event" for the country as it is the first time that the valuable papers of the state are in great demand on the international market. He further commented that the inaugural issuance was very successful as demand was double that on offer, showing financial investors have confidence in Serbia and its prospects.
